We attended the Sustainability Festival in West Plains Mo on Sunday May 16th, 2010.
In spite of the rain attendance was great. The venue is wonderful as it is an old paved go-cart race track. So, vendors were set up all around the inside edge of the track. This allowed the people to walk around the track to visit with the vendors and most importantly stay out of the mud. The patio up by the large building, that will house the "Next Step" Seventh Day Adventist Church upon completion, was where people could find food and beverages. While inside the building there were speakers throughout the day. There were speakers for everything from Solar Power to Building with straw bales to seed saving and much more.
We took a selection of our organically raised heirloom plants, Portabella and Shiitake Mushrooms, Bob's Veggie Builder Plus, and Bob's Portabella Chili.
We met a lot of new and interesting people at the festival. One vendor makes beautiful berets and had Miranda pose for her and gave her a beret as a 'thank you'. She also does ceramic mosaics. Her business is called Canto Verde Designs.
Another vendor was a young couple that made beautiful things using semi precious gemstones that they cut themselves, shells, sharks teeth, and glass beads. Miranda is wearing one made from shells and a sharks tooth that her dad picked out for her. They are Rainbow Rocks and Bead.
Their websites are still under construction, but you can reach them using them.
There were so many other vendors with so much to offer.
A big Thank You to all that organized and attended this event! Definitely a day well spent!
