Willow Mountain Mushrooms ~ The Shroom Shack

Nestled in the Ozark Mountains of Southern Missouri, Willow Mountain Mushrooms has been providing gourmet quality mushrooms since 2004.

Using only Natural means to grow our mushrooms we maintain a high quality mushroom FULL of natural flavor not chemicals.

While other producers concentrate on a long shelf life by using chemicals ~

Willow Mountain Mushrooms specializes in delivering fresh picked mushrooms directly to you thereby avoiding the distribution system and the time it sits on your local stores shelf.

In doing this we maintain the mushrooms wonderful natural flavor that many people have told us they have never tasted before in store bought mushrooms.

Organic Produce Co-op

Organic Produce boxes delivered to your home, work, co-op meeting place or pick up point.

We offer a wide variety of boxes starting at the $20 level ~ Basic mixed boxes, veggie only, fruit only, snack/raw eating, juicing, Dried nut and fruit and add on's are available each week.

Each Wednesday we send an email letting you know what to expect in the following weeks box.

Standing orders are highly suggested, but not required. You can customize your standing order each week... or just 'know' that it will be there on your delivery day.

Being centrally located ... we deliver to Mountain Home, Gainesville and Theodosia on Wednesdays and to West Plains and Willow Springs on Thursdays.

Our supplier is unique in its approach to acquiring produce for the Co-op. The founders are farmers that got together in 2005 to create a co-op to help distribute their products. So, what they do is get products from smaller family farms first, many of which have CSA's, and then fill in the blanks with larger organic farms. Our goal is to do the same thing... utilize Ozark growers then fill in the blanks with what the supplier has to offer utilizing the smaller farms that they work with first.

To get started please fill in our contact form with the type of box you wish to order order, phone number and start up date and we will send you an email to confirm your order.

Look forward to meeting you!

Blessings,

The Semyck Family

To get this out to you quickly so you have a chance to see what I am planning to work with this week I am going to list what we are getting for the boxes and not quantities going into each of them. I have to get back to sorting dry goods and tending to children and will be figuring the quantities on Friday. I am required to place my order on Friday. I can make adjustments on Saturday EARLY in the morning. I am in the dark on pricing until sometime on Wednesday and you all know I'm VERY busy Wednesday building boxes for Thursday delivery. Hope this works for everyone. I do appreciate all of you. Trying to do two things... keep emailing to a minimum for both of us and giving you as much advanced notice as I can so you can place your order and meal plan.

Anything that I have on the list may be ordered A La Carte or added to your box order. You will know I have seen your order as I will review it with you and send your total.

Produce News:
Still a shortage on bananas due to the storm that then brought a disease. We didn't get any last week. The week prior, only half of what we ordered. Won't know until it gets here what we will have to work with.
Greens continue to be harvested in great amounts so the price is right. New things are now starting to pop up - like asparagus. Strawberries and Blueberries continue to be available and Delicious!

So, here is what I am going to work with to fill boxes next week:
The $20 basic box: lettuce, carrots, onion, green beans, cauli/broc combo, half bundle of chard?, zucchini, tomatoes, sweet peppers, apples, oranges, kiwi, pears, tangerines, and bananas. Typically a nice 50/50 blend of fruits and veggies.

The $30 boxes may see twice as much green beans, a whole broc and cauli and a bundle of Asparagus in addition to the standard two heads of lettuce (try to give two varieties to spice things up), as well as carrot etc from the basic box. A nice blend of 50/50 fruits and veggies.

The $40 + boxes would also see larger amounts of the same ~ if you look over what I had in last weeks box detail I think you might get a good picture.

I am contemplating getting savoy cabbage in addition to the asparagus for the larger boxes. Beets, Celery, Yams and Green Onions are also on my veggie shopping list.

Apple varieties this week are Braeburn, Granny Smith and Cameo. Maybe another.
Pears: Bosc and a new crop of Bartlette.
Citrus: Tangerines, Kumquat and Cara Cara Navel oranges. Rio Start Grapefruit for the larger boxes and to add on. Also getting Fresh boxes of lemons and limes.
Other: Kiwi, Bananas, Blueberries and Strawberries.

Scroll down last weeks blogpost (it is on a green background) at our blogspot for an example of what I try to do with the boxes and the many that are available. Juicing box will stay the same. Fruit boxes are very close to what they would be... maybe a different variety of apple or pear, but basically the same.

Add on's list:
Anything listed as coming in any of the boxes this week.
Yellow #2 Potato ~ $4
Celery $2
Chard $2
Lettuce (red leaf, green leaf and Romaine) $1.50 each
Bulk 5# carrot $5
Bulk 2# Beet $5
Raw Sharp Cheddar Cheese $5.75 (this is delicious cheese... nice and smooth)
Broccoli $2 a bundle
Cauliflower $2.35 each
Sugar Plum Tomatoes (grape type) $2.50 pint
Blueberries $2.85
Strawberries 1# $5
Artichokes $1.75
Asparagus (small) 1/2 pound $3.50 (just starting to make its appearance... price should get better soon. Nicole says it is beautiful!)
Lemon and lime bags will be available... not sure on pricing as yet... making a mixed bag and won't know weight etc until it comes. Will be $3 or less.
Rio Star Grapefruit 2 for $3

We are looking at getting re-usable crates. I have had a lot of people request them. A couple even look into them for us!
The crates would help keep our environmental impact low and also help us in our packing the vehicle as well as walk in cooler and keeping things fresh. One option that I have seen with other co-ops and CSA's is a crate deposit or purchase program. The crates that I am looking at right now fold and store easily. They are intended for use with produce as well as many other goods. I use them as laundry bins in my laundry room as well! Great for storage of all sorts as they can handle use.
Would a crate deposit or purchase of $5-10 each - depends on the size of the crate - be something that would work for your family? Most boxes would be just one crate. Larger orders could take two or more.
Basically, it would work like this... Your family would make a deposit of $10 for the crates that we would use for you. One would have your produce being delivered and the other you would be giving back to us, keeping them in rotation so we always have something to pack your next order in. If we are transferring your order to a cooler or bag and you are not keeping the crate to the next delivery you would only need one. So, what do you think?

Thank You!

Blessings,
Wendy

PS. Important Note: Please review the new Policies Page on our blogspot. We are trying to simplify and keep things reasonably priced for all.
