As some of you know, we are putting together organic produce boxes weekly. We have drop off points and home delivery in Mountain Home, Gainesville, and West Plains.Once we get set up you pay for the following weeks box at the time we drop off your order. So, your first week you pay us for first order and the following weeks main box at the time we deliver your order... delivery will be on Friday or Saturday. If you live outside of Mountain Home we will have a pickup point/time at the MH Farmers Market location. The distributor we are working with works directly with small family farms (many of which have CSA's of their own) like our own that are certified organic first then fill in the blanks with larger farms.A small box that does nicely for 1-2 people is $20. You can get them at any $10 incremental level from there. You may specify a box meant for diabetics or other special needs. You will read more on this below in the message I sent to the people already getting the boxes. We work hard to get the most bang for your buck and rotate what we get in. For instance... one week we may get in broccoli and the next cauliflower. Our goal is to offer a wide assortment of in season organic fruits and vegetables on a weekly basis. If you need to take a break from produce deliveries, you will NOT be charged for the time you are not receiving produce.Note attached photo. It shows a sample of a $30 box. This is just a sample. Produce will vary from week to week.Contents of this $30 box were:2 Romaine1 celery3 tomatoes5 avocado2+ bunches of bananas2 pounds of red seedless grapes1 cauliflower4 juicing oranges2 - 8 oz packages of our white button mushrooms5# of sweet red onions2# of Brussels SproutsAlso.... think gift ideas... we are also offering bags of produce as a gift for Christmas etc. The produce will be delivered in a re-usable decorative tote/bag with a bow and card if you would like. You can order these as:The bags will be filled with in season fruits and veggies and there are options available to add gluten free mixes such as corn bread and brownie mix. ~~~~~~~~~~Letter I sent to people already receiving boxes yesterday:~~~~~~~~~~The feed back has been wonderful... Thank You So Much!!!... I'm so glad that our work can fill a need.Let your friends and neighbors know... then we can do 'neighborhood deliveries'! Feel free to pass on this email and have them contact us for more information. This week in produce:We are getting Bananas, Red Grapefruit, red grapes, Granny Smith and Cameo Apples, rainbow bunching carrots and or standard orange (I was sent a new price sheet this morning and the rainbow are not on it- called and put them on my 'wish list' - we will see - they may be able to find some for us), Red Leaf Lettuce, Navel oranges from Uncle Matt's (yummy citrus!), Celery, Golden Cauliflower from Coke Farms, Super Colossal Garlic from Christopher Ranch and Delicata or Green Acorn Squash from Full Circle. (Thinking acorn due to price, but does anyone have a preference?) It depends on how many orders we get as to if we get the squash. (items may change due to availability)You may request 1/2 cases or full cases of any product. Even something I don't have listed above! Also, if you would like to get 5 or 10# of something that we are ordering you can specify to add to your $20 or 30 box a 5# bag of granny smith (for instance). Or if you would like an additional 10 pounds of carrots you can request to "add 10 #'s of carrots to my $20 worth of produce" - that gives you an additional 10# of carrots added to your $20 box - which would add to your existing total of $20.Also, if you see something on our produce list that you do NOT want.... please let me know. I write out note cards for everyone's boxes and put notes on them so that I fill them to your needs. It takes a little longer to do that, but we'd rather you get something you will use.Things you may request to be part of or added on to (please specify) your $20 or $30 box are:
- 6 oz box of blueberries from Aw Sum Organics $5.92 each... please note these are the larger 6 oz clamshells
- Frisee lettuce (curly French endive) from Coke Farms $2.23 each
- Bartlett pears 3# bags from First Fruits $4.13 each
- Potato, Yellow #2 from White Mountain Farm in CO 50 pound for $33.40 or 25# for $16.70
- Juicing carrots in 5# lots $5 per bag
- Cabbage, Red comes 4 to a case.... we would try to fill a case combining everyone's 'need' on this one.$6.68 per head from Full Circle Farms in CA -
- Cucumbers from Eagle Springs CO there are 36 cucumbers to a case. $1.59 per cuke. Request how many you would like, if we are even close to filling the case I will be able to get it in.
- Tangelos 1/2 case for $18.05 -- full case for $36.10 (a case is 18-20 pounds ) So yummy (we got them in last week) I wanted to offer them by the 1/2 and whole case lots this time around.
- Serrano Pepper - by the pound $5.35 (need to sell 10#'s to fill a case - no guarantees, but thought I would put them out there. If we order it I will let you know to expect them.): "Their flavor is crisp, bright, and biting, notably hotter than the Jalapeño pepper they resemble, and they are typically eaten raw. Serrano peppers are also commonly used in making pico de gallo.[1] It is one of the most used chiles in Mexico."
